TAGAYTAY — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Tuesday arrested 17 Chinese people during a raid on a resort in Tagaytay City.
The NBI Cybercrime Division raided the resort in Barangay Francisco by getting a tip from a Chinese man who was allegedly tortured there. The victim was rescued.

When they entered the area, authorities were surprised to see computer workstations as well as cellphones allegedly used by the suspects in POGO. NBI Director Jaime Santiago himself rounded up the media about their operation. The victim also told James about the alleged torture."These are the phones they use. It's all about transferring money, of crypto," Santiago said. "They were trying to get away, they were being raped, they were being raped, they were being rescued. He will file a complaint. He was the only one we rescued," he added. There were 17 Chinese nationals, including four women. The complainant was rescued.

The company said it did not know that the operation was carried out in the area. They were also surprised to hear that there was torture there. "It's been working for a long time, every December passes, we have Christmas parties here but those aren't there yet. July 12th, this is where I went to the venue opposite the resort. It's not here yet," said Ariano Ferma, barangay chief of Brgy. Francisco. "They were rented, just a month ago," Ferma added.

The chief barangay said that it came to the point where people became elusive in the resort and did not allow other individuals to enter because it was supposed to be private property. "Someone threw trash at their door. I'm not going to let my clients get into this because they are private. Won't let [caretaker] in. I'm looking for that caretaker, it's gone, Ferma. The police said no one noticed or reported that there were Chinese in the resort. They are not particularly interested in private events. "Nobody gets into it. No one noticed, we didn't want to get into it because we didn't want to get in. It's private," he said. The barangay will temporarily suspend the operation of the resort. The barangay also has a strong presence to prevent similar incidents.
